America East Champion Bryant To Host Yale In First Round of NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men’s soccer team will face the Yale Bulldogs in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship as announced during the selection show on Monday afternoon.

The Battle of the Bulldogs will take place on Thursday (Nov. 16th) at 6:00pm. Bryant earned home field advantage so the contest will be played at Beirne Stadium.

The Black and Gold qualified for the tournament by winning their first America East conference championship in double overtime against New Hampshire by a score of 1-0. This is the first time that the Black and Gold will appear in the NCAA tournament.

Bryant has gone 16-1-2 en route to their conference title which included going undefeated in non-conference play and 5-1-2 in the America East.

Coach Ruben Resendes’ squad has been ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 for the past four weeks which saw them ranked as high as #19 last week. Bryant has also continually topped the NCAA statistical rankings all season. Currently they are first in the nation in goal differential, shutout percentage, save percentage, and team goals-against average. The Black and Gold are second in the country in win-loss-tie percentage as well.

Yale comes into the game Ivy League Championship after defeating Brown 2-1 on Sunday. Yale is 10-5-3 and went 3-1-3 in conference this season. This will be Yale’s eighth NCAA tournament appearance with their most recent being last season.

The winner of Thursday’s game will make a trip to New York to take on the #14 seeded Hofstra on Sunday.
