ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — Attleboro Public Schools will dismiss students an hour early on Wednesday due to anticipated rain after a downpour flooded the region earlier this week.

Attleboro High School students will be dismissed at 12:50 p.m. All middle schools will dismiss at 1:20 p.m. and elementary schools will close at 2:25 p.m.

The district said afternoon early learning sessions will not be held. The Abacus center will be open.

Southern New England is bracing for more rain after sudden and heavy rainfall on Monday night flooded communities.

In Providence, a shopping plaza on Branch Avenue was nearly underwater. Those caught in the flooding had to be recued by boat.

About 200 homes throughout North Attleborough had flood damage after the town saw almost 9 inches of rain in just two hours.

“I am petrified,” one resident told ABC 6 News. “I will probably have to leave the city to find one knowing everything is going to be sold out here.”
