BIG EAST Regular Season Champion PC Friars Rise To #9 In AP Top 25, #8 In Coaches Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s basketball team is ranked No. 9 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 8 in the most recent Coaches Poll. Both polls were released today (February 28). The Friars, who entered the polls on December 20 at No. 22/23, have been ranked for 11 consecutive weeks. The Friars were ranked No. 11/10 in both polls last week. The Friars moved up two spots in each poll after earning home wins last week over Xavier (99-92, 3OT) on February 23 and Creighton (72-51) on February 26. Both polls were released on February 28. With the win over Creighton, Providence secured first place in league standings for the season and captured its first ever BIG EAST Regular Season Championship.
The Friars (24-3, 14-2) have reached 24 wins overall for the first time since 2016 (24-11). The team also has posted 14 conference wins for the first time in the history of the program. Providence has posted Quad 1 wins at Wisconsin, at home versus Texas Tech, at UConn, at Xavier and at St. John’s. The Friars have a NCAA NET ranking of 25.
The Friars will return to action in the team’s final regular season game at No. 11/11 Villanova on Tuesday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. on FS1.
