Black bear spotted in Woonsocket a month after southeastern Massachusetts sightings

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — A black bear was spotted in Woonsocket on Thursday morning.
Police said there were several sightings reported in the area of Diamond Hill Road.
The Department of Environmental Management said to simply stay away from it. They said there’s no reason to call 911.
A bear was spotted face to face with a family dog at a home in Cohasset, Massachusetts on Monday.
The recent sightings came a month after black bears were spotted throughout southeastern Massachusetts.
A bear checked out Pa Raffa’s Italian Restaurant in New Bedford on May 23 before running into the woods of Acushnet.
One day prior, one was caught stealing a bird feeder from a Dartmouth home.
Authorities told Massachusetts residents at the time to keep animals inside. Anyone who saw a bear in their neighborhood was advised to clap their hands and talk loudly while slowly walking away.
