Brown Loses to Columbia At Home

Kino Lilly Jr. led all scorers with 24 points but the Columbia Lions (12-8, 3-4 Ivy League) handed the Brown Bears (6-16, 2-5 Ivy League) an 83-69 loss Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Malachi Ndur finished the game with a season-high eight rebounds and added nine points. Kimo Ferrari matched a career-high with five assists.

FIRST HALF
Brown and Columbia traded baskets through the first 10 minutes of the first half with six different Bears recording points. Landon Lewis threw down a dunk to bring Brown within a point, but the Lions scored nine straight points to stretch the lead to 27-17.

Brown caught fire late in the half with a 13-0 run with Aaron Cooley and Nana Owusu-Anane both hitting multiple shots. Malcolm Wrisby-Jefferson chipped in a pair of assists during the scoring run.

Columbia ended the half on a 7-0 run to take a 40-34 lead to the locker room.

SECOND HALF
After the Lions stretched the lead to 12 early in the second half, Lilly knocked down a three and added a lay-up to bring the Bears within six at the under-12 media timeout.

Kenny Noland pushed Columbia’s lead to 16 with a three as the shot clock expired with 7:51 remaining in the game.

Lilly hit another triple with 4:52 remaining following three straight Columbia turnovers to cut the Lions’ lead to nine.

Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa’s four-point play with 3:45 remaining pushed Columbia’s lead to 70-56, and the final would end at 83-69.

Brown continues conference play with a weekend set on the road, squaring off against the Princeton Tigers on Friday (Feb. 16) and the Penn Quakers on Saturday (Feb. 17).
