Brown Takes Ivy Madness Quest On Road To Harvard & Dartmouth

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men’s basketball team (13-11, 5-6) will hit the road for the final time this season when they travel to Harvard (10-14, 5-6) on Friday and Dartmouth (13-11, 7-4) on Saturday.
Scott Cordischi and Russ Tyler ’71 will bring you the action for both games live on the Brown Varsity Network, fans can access the Brown Varsity Network via the Brown Bears app, Varsity Network app, or Brownbears.com. Both games will also be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Last Time Out
Brown went 1-1 last weekend with an 86-61 win over Columbia (Feb. 21) and an 85-81 loss to Cornell (Feb. 22), both games were at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Playoff Implications
Brown can punch its ticket to Ivy Madness this weekend with win’s over Harvard and Dartmouth. Along with a 2-0 record this weekend, the Bears can earn a trip to Ivy Madness with a Yale win over Dartmouth, a Penn win over Cornell, and a Columbia win over Princeton. All three of the non-Brown games will be played on Friday evening.
Brown can also earn an Ivy Madness with wins in all three of its remaining games.
History Made, the Chase Continues
Kino Lilly Jr. is now the all-time leader in program history with 323 three-pointers made. Lilly Jr. also sits second all-time in career points with 1,839, he is 203 points away from being the all-time program scoring leader.
Lilly Jr. ranks third in Ivy League history in three-pointers made (323). Against Dartmouth (Jan. 25), Lilly Jr. became the third player in Ivy League history and the first player in program history to hit 300 three-pointers.
Ivy Iverson
Kino Lilly Jr. is averaging 18.0 points per game on 41.0 percent shooting from the field and 40.9 percent shooting from three-point range this season. He is also shooting 39.8 percent from three-point range in Ivy League play.
The senior is averaging 3.46 three-pointers per game and is 11 three-pointers away from breaking Brown’s single season record of 93 set by Sean McGonagill during the 2013-14 season. Lilly Jr. is on pace to hit 92 three-pointers this season.
Lilly Jr’s 3.46 three-pointers per game ranks fourth in the nation, his 83 total three-pointers made sits 31st nationally, and his 18.0 points per game ranks 66th nationally.
The senior’s 321 career three-pointers ranks 17th in the nation among active players.
Cooley Continues To Impress
Aaron Cooley is averaging 10.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, the senior has double-figure scoring efforts in 14 out of 24 games.
Cooley scored a career-high 28 points in Brown’s 83-82 win at Cornell (Jan. 20), he also had a career-high 10 field goals made against the Big Red. Cooley’s 28 points was the second-most by a Bear this season. The Roxbury, Mass. native shot 10-13 from the floor and 3-3 from three-point range; all three of Cooley’s triples came in the first half. Cooley shot a perfect 4-4 from the floor in the second half while grabbing seven total rebounds.
Cooley also had a career-high 15 rebounds in Brown’s season opener at Siena (Nov. 4). Cooley’s 15 rebounds is the fourth-most by an Ivy League player this season; he’s recorded double-digit rebounds in four games.
Cooley is shooting 47.3 percent from the floor this season and is shooting 47.8 percent in Ivy League play; his 6.2 rebounds per game ranks eighth in the Ivy League.
Lewis’ Leap
In the absence of Nana Owusu-Anane, Landon Lewis has scored in double figures in 18 out of 20 games played this season, Lewis has also scored 15 or more points in 10 out of 20 games played.
Lewis netted a career-high 21 points in Brown’s win at Bryant (Dec. 6) on 9-12 shooting from the floor and recorded his first career double-double in Brown’s win over Sacred Heart (Nov. 17) with 14 points and 11 rebounds on a perfect 6-6 shooting; he backed up that effort with 17 points (8-11) shooting at Canisius (Nov. 23).
Lewis’ 2.8 offensive boards per game ranks first in the Ivy League, his 6.7 rebounds per game is fifth in the Ivy League, Lewis’ 59.2 field goal percentage ranks 21st in the nation and second in the Ivy League.
The Los Angeles, Calif. native is averaging 14.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season.
On the defensive end, Lewis has recorded four or more blocks on four separate occasions and five blocks on three separate occasions. Lewis’ 1.70 blocks per game ranks second in the Ivy League.
Most recently, Lewis scored 20 points on 9-16 shooting against Cornell (Feb. 22), Lewis also grabbed six rebounds to go along with one steal and one block.
Lesburt’s Big Stretch
Over the last three games, Alexander Lesburt Jr. is shooting 16-31 from the floor and 10-21 from three-point range.
In two games last weekend, the junior shot 10-18 from distance and made seven field goals and six triples against Columbia. It was the third time this season Lesburt Jr. hit seven field goals and six three-pointers in a game.
Stuffing The Stat Sheet
Over the last five games, Malcolm Wrisby-Jefferson is stuffing the stat sheet with averages of 12.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. The Queens, N.Y. native has scored in double figures in four out of those five games, highlighted by a career-high 16 points at Columbia (Feb. 8).
Wrisby-Jefferson is shooting 29-44 from the floor during this stretch, he shot 14-22 from the floor in two games last weekend.
Scouting Harvard (10-14, 5-6)
Harvard welcomes Brown having won two consecutive games at home, the Crimson are 2-2 Lavietes Pavilion in Ivy League play.
Robert Hinton has won Ivy League Rookie of the Week seven times, the freshman is averaging 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
In its last game, Harvard overcame a five-point deficit with under 30 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime at Penn (Feb. 22), the Crimson eventually picked up a 79-78 over the Quakers.
Scouting Dartmouth (13-11, 7-4)
Dartmouth is 4-1 at Leede Arena in Ivy League play and has won three consecutive games at home. Connor Amundsen’s 46.2 three-point percentage paces the Ivy League, he is one of four players on the Big Green averaging double figures.
Ryan Cornish leads the Big Green with 17.0 points per game, Brandon Mitchell-Day is averaging 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Brown will conclude the regular season when they welcome Yale on Saturday, Mar. 8. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. inside the Pizzitola Sports Center.
