Brown Unable to Complete Comeback Against Cornell

Nana Owusu-Anane posted 21 points, four steals and seven rebounds in Brown’s (5-13, 1-2 Ivy) 84-83 setback to Cornell (13-3, 3-0 Ivy) on Saturday in the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Owusu-Anane went 7-of-10 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free throw line. Kino Lilly Jr. added 16 points and five assists and moved into No. 20 in program history in scoring, Felix Kloman finished with 13 points and Kalu Anya was 8-of-8 from the line for 12 points.

FIRST HALF
The Bears trailed by as much as 16 with 2:57 remaining and ended the half on a 9-0 run to cut the Big Red lead to 49-42 at the break.

Owusu-Anane posted 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and added three steals, the Bears collected four blocks and shot 50 percent from the floor. Owusu-Anane’s and-one with just under a minute to play brought the Pizzitola Sports Center crowd to its feet.

Brown connected on 11-of-14 from the charity stripe.

SECOND HALF
Brown continued to shoot the ball well and Kloman and Lilly Jr. got hot to cut the Cornell lead to four with 7:28 remaining.

Lilly Jr. answered a Big Red three with a triple of his own and moved into sole possession of No. 5 in program history in three-pointers made.

Anya’s free throws (6:08) made it a one-possession game, but Cornell followed with an and-one for a five-point cushion.

Anya remained perfect from the line and forced a Cornell turnover and a Big Red foul on the ensuing possession.

Moments later, Lilly Jr. found the net again from long distance and made it 80-78 Cornell (1:06) before the Big Red split a pair from the line. Brown was fouled on the rebound attempt and the game
