Brown’s Gia Powell Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week For Second Time

PRINCETON, N.J.– First-year guard Gia Powell has been named the Ivy League’s Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. This marks Powell’s second time earning the honor, with her first on Dec. 2.

Originating from Edmonds, Wash., Powell led the team in points, and set a new career-high in Brown’s 53-50 win over Bryant on Dec. 10. She netted a total of 21 points, posting double digits in Brown’s last three games in a row. Powell also hit three triples, and snagged three steals.

Powell currently ranks second in the Ivy League in three-point field goals per game with 2.2 per game.

The Bears will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Pizzitola Sports Center when they host the University of New Hampshire. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
