Brown’s Naya Cardoza Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week

Naya Cardoza of the Brown women’s soccer team was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

Cardoza scored the game-winning goal for Brown in its 1-0 win over Cornell (Oct. 26), the win clinched an Ivy League Tournament appearance for the Bears.

The goal against Cornell was Cardoza’s second of the season, the junior found the back of the net at Minnesota (Sept. 8), her goal tied the game at one in the 87th minute.

Cardoza and the Brown back line earned their fifth shutout of the season on Saturday and their third in the last four contests. The Bears as a unit have allowed just one goal in the last four contests.

Brown will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Dartmouth, kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
