Bryant Baseball Knocks Off Stonehill On Bulldogs Senior Day

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Drew Wyers had four hits and drove in four runs and Aleksei Goldhill homered and drove in three runs as the Bryant baseball team closed out the home schedule with a 12-8 victory over Stonehill on Senior Day at Conaty Park.

The Bulldogs improve to 30-17-1 overall with their 19th win in the last 22 games. Bryant now heads to UMBC to close out the regular season beginning Thursday night.

Wyers finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with a double, home run and four RBI. Goldhill, honored prior to game, hit his first career home run and finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. Gavin Noriega and Pat D’Amico each drove in a pair of runs.

Bryant used six pitchers on the afternoon, with Mark Scamardella earning the victory and Alex Slotter the save.

How it Happened

  • Stonehill grabbed a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first. Sam Parks opened the game with a single after a long at-bat and came around to score on a Cohall double to left center. Taylor Gaspar then singled to the pitcher to make it 2-0.
  • Bryant grabbed the lead with a six-run second. Three-straight walks loaded the bases with one out and Goldhill drove in the first run with a single. A bases-loaded walk to Zyons made it 2-2 and Noriega made it 4-2 with a two-run single through the right side. Wyers added an RBI single and D’Amico made it 6-2 with a sac fly to right.
  • Goldhill made it 8-2 in the third as he hit a two-run home run, the first of his career, to left center.
  • Stonehill closed the gap with single runs in the fourth and fifth and three in the sixth. In the sixth, Aidan Cohall and Taylor Gaspar both homered.
  • Bryant answered with a pair of long balls of its own to take a 12-7 lead. Wyers crushed a three-run home run down the left field line and D’Amico followed with a towering home run to left.
