Bryant Heads to Queens to Face Rick Pitino, St. John’s

The Bryant men’s basketball team travels to Queens, N.Y., on Wednesday night to face Big East foe St. John’s. Tip is set for 7:05 p.m. and the game will air on CBS Sports Network.

THE SERIES

Bryant and St. John’s will be meeting for the second time in program history. St. John’s earned an 80-44 victory on Dec. 23, 2009.
Cecil Gresham became the 31st player in program history to record 1,000 career points in the contest.
BRYANT CLOSES HOME NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE WITH WIN

Bryant closed the home portion of its non-conference schedule with a 122-63 victory over VTSU-Johnson on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs hit 18 threes and tied a program record with 45 three-point field goal attempts.
Connor Withers (25 pts) led a trio of Bulldogs with 20+ points, while Barry Evans (16p, 10r) and Jakai Robinson (10p, 10r) posted double-doubles.
RAF’S RETURN

Wednesday will mark Rafael Pinzon’s return to St. John’s. Pinzon played in 32 games over two seasons with the Johnnies.
He averaged 6.1 ppg in 19 games (two starts) with St. John’s as a sophomore in 2022-23.
Pinzon enters his return with three-straight 20-point efforts and a team-leading 19.6 ppg. He is shooting 52 percent from three, ninth nationally.
FIVE MORE THINGS TO KNOW

Wednesday begins a stretch of four-straight games away from home for the Bulldogs to close out the non-conference schedule. Bryant will face Fordham at Mohegan Sun on Saturday, travel to Towson on Dec. 22 and closes 2024 at Grand Canyon on Dec. 30.
Earl Timberlake was named to the early season watch list for the Lou Henson Award, presented annually to the best player in mid-major college basketball. Timberlake has scored 18+ points in each of his last three games and now has 974 points in his Bryant career.
Rafael Pinzon leads the Bulldogs with 19.6 ppg and is currently ranks ninth nationally in three-point field goal percentage. Pinzon is also shooting 91.4 percent from the free throw line.
Barry Evans is Bryant’s third leading scorer, averaging 12.9 ppg on the year. Evans posted 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists on Friday vs Brown. He has recorded three double-doubles on the year and is second on team with 7.2 rpg.
Connor Withers scored a season-high 25 points on Sunday vs VTSU-Johnson and enters Wednesday nine points shy of 1,000 for his collegiate career. Withers also surpassed 600 career rebounds on Sunday.
