Bryant Women’s Basketball Falls in America East Quarterfinals
The Bryant University women’s basketball team fell to Binghamton 56-51 in the America East Quarterfinals at the Chace Athletic Center.
Silvia Gonzalez led the Bulldogs with 12 points (4-8 3FG), Nia Scott had 11 points and eight boards, and Mariona Planes Fortuny posted 11 points.

How it Happened
The game was close in the first four minutes, with both teams tallying six points.
The Bulldogs closed out the first quarter with an 8-7 edge, resulting in a 14-13 lead for Bryant. Silvia Gonzalez hit two threes, and Fortuny converted a layup.
The Bearcats opened the second quarter by holding the Black and Gold scoreless and tallying eight points in the first six and a half minutes to gain the lead (22-14). Fortuny sunk a free throw at the 3:35 mark for the Bulldogs’ first points of the quarter (22-15).
Both teams tallied five to close out the half, giving Binghamton a 27-20 advantage.
The Bulldogs mounted a 7-2 run in the first two and half minutes of the second half to cut the deficit to two (29-27).
Binghamton responded with an 8-0 run in the next two minutes, expanding the lead to (35-27).
The Bearcats made a layup out of the media timeout, and then Bryant went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to two, heading into the fourth (37-34).
Binghamton scored three quick points to begin the fourth, and then the Bulldogs mounted a 6-0 run, which tied the game (40-40) at the 5:28 mark in the fourth. Lucie Castagne hit a wing three, Mancini converted a free throw, and Fortuny tallied a layup during the run.
The Bearcats responded with a layup, and Fortuny converted a bucker on the next possession, tying the game at 42 with five minutes remaining.
Binghamton then went on a 5-0 run, but Mia Mancini nailed a transition wing three to cut the deficit to two (47-45) with under three minutes left in the game.
The Bulldogs then tallied six points for the remainder of the game, while the Bearcats posted nine, as the Black and Gold fell to Binghamton 56-51.
