FM Championship Returns to New England Next Week
Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, and the world’s best golfers are gearing up to spend it in the Greater Boston area. The second edition of the FM Championship will take place at TPC Boston from Aug. 28-31 and promises a thrilling competition as 144 standout LPGA athletes tee it up to compete for a $4.1 million purse, the Tour’s largest prize fund outside of majors and the tour championship.
As the LPGA Tour celebrates its 75th anniversary, the longest-running of any women’s professional sports organization, records continue to be broken with the largest single-season prize fund and 21 unique winners through 20 events. In a year marked by excellence, don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of LPGA history at the FM Championship.
The FM Championship field is currently set to be headlined by four of the top five players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings – No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, No. 2 Nelly Korda, No. 4 Ruoning Yin and No. 5 Minjee Lee. 2025 FM champion Haeran Ryu is expected to return to TPC Boston in search of a successful title defense, along with 2025 runner-up Jin Young Ko.
FM Ambassador and Rockland’s own Megan Khang is one of three Massachusetts natives in the field, along with Brittany Altomare, of Shrewsbury, and Alexa Pano, of Westborough. Additionally, Sophia Popov, who grew up in Germany, was born in Framingham and spent her childhood summers with family on Nantucket.
Other names in the preliminary field for the FM Championship are 2025 major champions Grace Kim, Minjee Lee, Mao Saigo, Maja Stark and Miyu Yamashita, as well as notable 2025 winners Jennifer Kupcho, Madelene Sagstrom, Lottie Woad and Angel Yin.
