Former councilman Matt Reilly admits to violating bail, will remain held at ACI
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Former Cranston councilman Matt Reilly will be held at the ACI after he admitted to violating bail in court on Friday.
Reilly admitted to a Providence Superior Court judge that he violated the bail he was granted back in October for charges stemming from alleged child molestation.
He has been held in the ACI since Dec. 7 as a result of the violation, and per the judge’s order will now remain there until Jan. 26, after a 50-day penalty for bail violation, retroactive to Dec. 7.
Reilly was initially granted a $10,000 surety bail and ordered to home confinement.
In addition to his 50-day sentence, his previous $10,000 bail was bumped up to $20,000.
Reilly also agreed to enter the Butler Hospital outpatient program upon his release and receive drug screenings every two weeks, while also remaining under home confinement.
It’s been a long past few months for the former councilman, embattled ever since police found him passed out in his car with a crack pipe in his hand in May.
Reilly was scheduled to be in court Thursday to be arraigned on the drug possession charge. That hearing was pushed back until Jan. 25.
