Former Dartmouth police officer convicted of child rape

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — A former Dartmouth Police Department officer was convicted of rape on Wednesday.

Shawn Souza was convicted of child rape and indecent assault and battery according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

Souza was accused of raping a 14-year-old boy in 2011.

Souza will be sentenced on Oct. 3 in Fall River.
