WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – Frequent visitors of Oakland Beach in Warwick reacted to the Tuesday night assault, possibly involving a baseball bat and a golf club, that sent three people in the hospital.

As of Wednesday afternoon, one man was still in the hospital in stable condition. Three men were sent to the hospital right after the assault.

“I think it’s terrible because during the day it’s a very family oriented place,” Craig Greenslade said.

Greenslade and his friends hang out in the park daily and have done so for years. He added that they’ve only heard of problems happening at night.

Greenslade’s friend, Donna Hanck, said the same.

“When we go home at 4 p.m. there’s more problems,” Hanck said that the night time brings out more of a ‘party group’.

Greenslade added that this is an area that could use extra police patrols at night especially during the summer months.

“I wanna come down here during the night, but now that’s going to turn me off from coming at night. I won’t feel safe, not at all,” added Greenslade.
