Friars To Open Big East Play at UConn, Wrap Up At Villanova

The Providence College men’s basketball team’s 2021-22 BIG EAST schedule was announced today (Sept. 23). The Friars will play a 20-game league schedule with Providence playing each of the other 10 conference teams once at home and once on the road. The Friars will open their 2021-22 league schedule on the road at Connecticut on Saturday, December 18.

The Friars BIG EAST home opener will be versus Georgetown on Wednesday, December 22. Providence’s other BIG EAST home matchups will be versus Seton Hall on Wednesday, December 29; versus St. John’s on Saturday, January 8; versus Connecticut on Saturday, January 15; versus Butler on Sunday, January 23; versus Marquette on Saturday, January 29; versus DePaul on Saturday, February 12; versus Villanova on Tuesday, February 15; versus Xavier on Wednesday, February 23; and versus Creighton on Saturday, February 26.

The team will play 10 league road games. In addition to with its BIG EAST road opener at Connecticut on Saturday, December 18, the team’s other nine league road games will be at DePaul on Saturday, January 1; at Marquette on Tuesday, January 4; at Creighton on Tuesday, January 11; at Seton Hall on Tuesday, January 18; at Xavier on Wednesday, January 26; at St. John’s on Tuesday, February 1; at Georgetown on Sunday, February 6; at Butler on Sunday, February 20 and at Villanova on Tuesday March 1.

The Friars will open the season with an exhibition game at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Thursday, October 21 versus Stonehill.
