PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Attornery General Peter Neronha said Thursday that a Grand Jury indicted a Cranston man in connection to a officer involved shooting back in January.

Neronha said 49-year-old Kyle Bento is now charged with burglary and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Providence police said they responded to a report of a breaking and entering on Hope Street in Providence. When they arrived, they saw Bento get in his car and try to flee the scene. Police later fired two shots at Bento before arresting him.

He’s also facing several charges of breaking and entering that date back to November 2021.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on Aug 24.
