Jury selection begins in Adam Montgomery murder trial

MANCHESTER, N.H. (WLNE) — According to WCVB, the jury selection began Tuesday in the murder trial for Adam Montgomery who is accused of killing his daughter, Harmony Montgomery.
WCVB reports that Harmony was five-years-old when she disappeared sometime between Nov. 28 and Dec. 10, 2019.
Police did not learn of her disappearance for nearly two years and never found the child’s body.
In Aug. 2022, Montgomery was charged with second-degree murder.
WCVB shared Tuesday that this high-profile New England case has began the process of selecting unbiased jurors.
Attorney Patricia LaFrance shared with WCVB, “You are going to have a number of people who will come up when their name is called and say, ‘I’ve heard about this case. I don’t think I can sit on it. I feel so sorry for her,’ and then the judge will excuse them. But there will be other people who would, you know, I’ve had it happen in my juries where they say, ‘I’ve heard about the case. I haven’t been paying too much attention to it. But I believe everybody deserves a fair trial.”
Jury selection will take place over the next two days. The court is planning for opening statements to proceed Wednesday, WCVB reported.
