K9 Officer Nero released in hospital

YARMOUTH, M.A. (WLNE) — K9 Officer Nero has been released from the hospital, Yarmouth Police announced on Wednesday. 

Police said in a Facebook post Nero was taken home "in his fallen partner Sergeant Sean M. Gannon’s cruiser."

Officer Sean Gannon, 32, was shot and killed while serving a warrant in Barnstable on Thursday.

Gannon’s funeral was held Wednesday, with thousands of officers and civilians showing support for the fallen officer.
