Lounge in Providence ordered closed due to shots fired incident

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Fire Department said that Mezzo Lounge has been ordered to temporarily close due to a shots fired incident.

At approximately 2:03 Sunday morning, Providence police were sent to Charles Street on reports of shots fired at the Wendy’s parking lot.

At the scene, police saw about 200 people from Club Mezzo and discovered several shell casings, as well as three vehicles with bullet damage.

Police say no witnesses came forward and there are no reported injuries.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident.

The department said that an emergency 72 hour closure was ordered by the Board of Licenses.

The business was previously closed in July 2023 due to an officer being injured.
