Madison Medbury Named Little East Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, RIC & UMass Dartmouth Highlight Postseason Honors Wednesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its 2024-25 postseason award recipients Wednesday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches. Rhode Island College’s Madison Medbury was elected the 2024-25 LEC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.

Medbury led the Anchorwomen most statistical categories this season, including points scored (448), scoring average (17.1 ppg), assists (133) and steals (64) – her 7.1 rebounds per game were second-best on the team. She led the LEC in assists, while ranking 12 in NCAA Division III in assists per game (5.1) and 13th in total assists. Medbury additionally ranked second in the conference in steals, third in scoring and eight in rebounding.

The University of Southern Maine had a pair of major award recipients in 2024-25 LEC Rookie of the Year Lucy Wiles and 2024-24 LEC Coach of the Year David Chadbourne.

Wiles started in all but one of her 28 games played during her first collegiate season, leading the Huskies in scoring with 13 points per contest and putting up team-best totals of 84 assists and 43 steals. She ranked second in the LEC in assists, was ninth in the league in steals and finished 11th in the conference in scoring average.

Chadbourne guided the Huskies to an overall record of 18-10 in his second season at the helm of the program. USM placed third in the LEC with a 12-4 league record, and advanced to the LEC Championship Tournament Final for the first time since 2014.
