Man accused of setting apartment building on fire in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A man is accused of setting an apartment building on fire in Providence.
The fire happened just 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on Douglas Avenue.

Witnesses told police that Justin Johnson started the fire, according to a police report obtained by ABC 6 News.
The report read that Johnson, of Providence, was at the scene when he was arrested.
Maj. David Lapatin said officers turned him over to the arson squad. His specific charge was unclear.
The apartments, which are above Uncle Ben’s Liquor Store, were destroyed. Four people lived in the building.

Two of the residents were forced to jump out of their apartment windows. They were taken to the Rhode Island Hospital.
Firefighters said one of them suffered serious injuries while the other had minor injuries.

The liquor store sustained water damage.
