Man arrested after stabbing that killed brother in Attleboro
ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — A man was taken into custody after a stabbing that killed his brother in Attleboro on Monday.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said 51-year-old James McCormick was arrested following the incident on Melissa Drive.
Authorities said Attleboro police responded to the scene of two homes around 3:25 a.m. for a reported disturbance.
Responding officers found 47-year-old Richard McCormick suffering from stab wounds and took him to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“It’s totally absurd that something like this would happen,” neighbor Debra Skorker said. “I’m sure it’s totally a surprise to everybody.”
James McCormick is being held on charges of assault with intent to murder and assault and battery and will be arraigned in Attleboro District Court on Tuesday morning.
A third brother told ABC 6 News that the altercation was over who was going to inherit their late father’s truck.
