NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A man convicted of a fatal 2017 New Bedford stabbing was sentenced Friday to 18 years in prison.

David Antonetty Almestica, 25, was charged with killing Angel Camacho in a drug-deal four years ago.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said the two men met up at a Tallman Street apartment for a cocaine deal. After Camacho complained about the price, Almestica stabbed him in the chest and threw him down the stairs.

Almestica then handed out cocaine to witnesses to the stabbing, telling them to keep their mouths shut.

He was convicted last week of second degree murder, witness intimidation, and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
