New animal shelter serving Johnston, North Providence, and Smithfield opens
NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A new state-of-the-art animal shelter opened its doors Thursday, serving the towns of Johnston, North Providence, and Smithfield.
The Tri-Town Animal Shelter is located on Smithfield Road in North Providence.
The $2 million for the 5,000 square feet animal shelter came from a 2012 $60 million Google settlement.
Mayor Charles Lombardi initially told ABC 6 News that the facility was going to open by late June.
