NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Wayfinder Hotel in Newport has reopened for reservations after a fire ripped through part of the building last year.

The hotel said on social media that it is back open Thursday through Sunday.

The post said more information is forthcoming.

The hotel has been closed for two summers after a fire broke out ahead of Memorial Day weekend 2022.

The harsh flames caused part of the roof to cave in and destroyed hundreds of rooms. The bulk of the damage was at the hotel’s newly-renovated wing.

Firefighters were busy trying to save the hotel into the overnight hours.

Three firefighters were hurt, including one who fell through a floorboard.

Fire crews came back to check for hot spots for days afterward.
