North Providence mayor endorses Sen. Cano for Congress

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi on Thursday endorsed Sen. Sandra Cano for Congress.
“I’m supporting Sandra Cano because she is the only candidate in this race that has the experience that matters,” said Lombardi. “She has served at every level of government in Rhode Island in policy making roles and has proved that she can get things done.”
Cano said she’s “honored” to have Lombardi’s support and looks forward to working with him on future projects.
“I’m proud to support Sandra Cano and ask the residents of North Providence and all of Congressional District 1 to join me,” said Lombardi.
Cano announced her run for Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional seat in March.
The seat opened after Rep. David Cicilline resigned from Congress on June 1 to serve as the new president and CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation.
Cano is one of more than a dozen Democrats running for this seat.
