Pawtucket celebrates reopening of fire station

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Fire officials and representatives from Pawtucket celebrated the reopening of the West Avenue Fire Station on Sunday.
The structure, built in 1912, was shut down in 2017 because of dangerously high mold levels.
Construction and renovation of the station started back in the summer of 2023.
“Improving the facilities that our public safety officials operate in is crucial to the quality of life of our residents,” said Mayor Don Grebien in a statement last year. “Taking the next step on this project will only bring us closer to getting this station open full-time again, which will, in turn, benefit us all.”
Officials also hosted a barbeque at the ceremony for members of the community.
