Last Time Out…
– Providence enters Thursday’s matchup with No. 2 Boston University following a split weekend series with Merrimack that saw the Friars emerge victorious 4-2 on Feb. 29 before falling 2-1 in North Andover on March 1.
– On Thursday, Providence’s offense got going late in the first period, as Cal Kiefiuk netted a rebound to give the Friars the 1-0 advantage.
– Merrimack tied the game early in the second period, with a shot in the slot from Ty Daneault rifling its way into the back of the net.
– Just a couple minutes later, Chase Yoder struck from in front of the net to put the Friars back on top 2-1.
– The Friars doubled their lead midway through the third period, as Bennett Schimek got a piece of the puck, sending it under Merrimack’s Ollas while on the power-play to put Providence ahead 3-1.
– With 48 seconds to go in the third period, Merrimack’s Mark Hillier popped off a backhanded shot to pull the Warriors within a score.
– Providence secured the final 4-2 win with 4.4 seconds to go, as Brady Berard netted an empty-net goal from the neutral zone.
– On Friday, the Warriors netted a pair of goals midway through the second period, as both Michael Citara and Mac Welsher broke through within three minutes of each other to give the Warriors the 2-0 advantage.

Max Crozier Makes NHL Debut
– Former Friar captain Max Crozier made his NHL Debut on Jan. 13 for the Tampa Bay Lightning, becoming the 46th Friar to appear in an NHL game. In 12 games with Tampa, he has posted two assists and 13 shots on goal while averaging 12:59 in ice time.
Leaman Hits Milestone
Head Coach Nate Leaman earned his 249th career victory at Providence on Nov. 11, passing Lou Lamoriello as the program’s winningest head coach all-time. Leaman sits at 397 career victories as a Division I head coach.
McDonald Sets Program Record
Captain Cam McDonald appeared in his 157th career game on Feb. 17 at Boston University, setting the program record for games played. McDonald passed Ross Mauermann ’15 and Brian Pinho ’18 who previously held the record of 156.

Providence can clinch a first-round bye in the Hockey East Tournament with a single point over their final two games, a point from UMass or less than six points from New Hampshire. The Friars can finish in a range of 3rd-6th depending on the results of the weekend.
