PC’s Al Durham Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  It was announced today (December 6) that graduate student Al Durham (Lilburn, Ga.) was named BIG EAST Player of the Week.  Durham helped the Friars (8-1) post a 2-0 mark last week with wins over Texas Tech and Rhode Island.

Durham averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rpg, in the two games last week.  He was 17-18 (94.4 %) from the free-throw line.  Durham registered a game-high 23 points and he was 12-13 from the free-throw line as the Friars defeated Texas Tech, 72-68, on December 1.  On December 4, Durham recorded 14 points and six assists while shooting 5-5 from the free-throw line in a 66-52 victory over Rhode Island.  Durham ranks second on the team in scoring 14.6 ppg.  He also ranks tied for first on the team in assists

This is Durham’s first season with Friars after transferring from Indiana.  In four seasons at Indiana, Durham started 97 of the 123 games he played.  He scored 1,035 points and he ranks 51st on the Indiana all-time scoring list.  Durham also grabbed 272 rebounds and recorded 240 assists.  He shot 41.0 percent (321-783) from the field, including 35.8 percent (128-358) from behind the arc.  Over his four seasons, he shot 77.3 percent (265-343) from the free-throw line.
