PC’s Taige Harding & Trevor Connelly Sign Professional Contracts Tuesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College senior defenseman Taige Harding (St. Albert, Alta.) has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks beginning in the 2025-26 season. Harding will report to the Rockford IceHogs (AHL) on an amateur try-out for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. Harding was a third-round selection (91st overall) of Chicago in the 2021 NHL Draft.
Harding appeared in all 37 games for the Friars in 2024-25, totaling 14 points on two goals and 12 assists. He posted a career-high four assists against Colorado College on Dec. 7. Harding’s +9 rating was tied for third on the team while his 30 blocked shots were tied for second on Providence. Harding played in 123 games as a Friar, recording eight goals and 32 assists for 40 points with a +20 rating.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College freshman forward Trevor Connelly (Tustin, Calif) has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday, April 1. Connelly was a first-round selection (19th overall) of Vegas in the 2024 NHL Draft.
In 23 games as a Friar in 2024-25, Connelly registered 13 points on four goals and nine assists. He recorded a career-high five points in a 6-5 win at Northeastern on Nov. 9, tallying the game-winning goal in overtime. He also earned a gold medal with the U.S. at the 2025 World Junior Championships where he totaled four points on a goal and three assists over seven games in the tournament.
