Planet Fitness in Smithfield reopens after deadly crash at Subway

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The Planet Fitness in Smithfield said Tuesday it reopened after damage was done from a car crash at a Subway sandwich shop last week.

“The Smithfield Planet Fitness is currently open as of Monday, June 12,” said a spokesperson for Planet Fitness Thursday.

Although they reopened, Planet Fitness said access to cardio equipment and the Black Card Spa is currently limited.

The gym, which is on the other side of the Subway at the Apple Valley Mall on Putnam Pike, sustained damage when police say Jefferey Barden drove into it. The crash killed Charlotte Vacca and injured five others.
