Play for Peace Weekend in Providence
The Play for Peace tour started its seventh stop through Providence Friday.
The first event of the weekend at the John Hollins Rec Center featured the first ever girls’ high school game and three point shoot out. It also featured a dunk contest for high school boys’ basketball players.
Mount Pleasant’s Jayden DeSimone won the three point contest. Classical’s Marquis Buchanan won the dunk contest.
URI sophomore point guard and former Bishop Hendricken Hawk Sebastian Thomas was a guest judge for the dunk contest.
The tour continued Saturday Morning with kids’ basketball clinics around Providence. It ends at 6pm at the Providence Technical Career Academy with a high school and professional basketball game.
