Police identify Cumberland man, 19, killed in Burrillville motorcycle crash

BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WLNE) — Burrillville police on Tuesday identified the 19-year-old man killed in a motorcycle crash Monday night.
Police said Tuesday Brenden Mendes, of Cumberland, was killed after the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a car on Route 102 just after 6 p.m.
According to police, a man driving a 2014 Toyota Camry just turned onto Route 102 from Lapham Farm Road, when Mendes slammed into the car.
Mendes was thrown several hundred feet from his motorcycle and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.
The two people in the Camry were taken to Landmark Hospital and treated for their injuries.
Police said it appears the speed that Mendes was driving was a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under further investigation.
