Providence man handed 2 life sentences for 2021 murder

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence man was sentenced to serve two consecutive life sentences for the brutal murder of a man sitting in the back seat of a car.
According to court documents, 33-year-old Quelon Page will serve two life sentences with an additional six-year sentence for the murder of 25-year-old Tyreik Grundy.
Back in May, a jury found Page guilty of one count of first-degree murder, one count of conspiracy to commit assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of discharging a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, and one count of carrying a pistol without a license.
During the trial, the State proved that on the evening of May 14, 2021, Page shot and killed Grundy while he was sitting in his car in a parking lot on Pope Street in Providence.
According to video surveillance footage and witness testimony that Page left his car, walked up to Grundy in an SUV, opened the rear passenger door where Grundy was sitting and shot him six times before fleeing.
On May 18, 2023, officers found Page’s white Infiniti coupe and his phone inside. A search warrant on his phone later revealed details about the murder from the days prior to the shooting.
DNA also placed Page at the scene after evidence was recovered from the Infiniti and the back seat of the SUV where Grundy was killed.
