Providence Moves Up to #21 in AP Poll
The Providence College men’s basketball team is ranked No. 21 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 21 in the most recent Coaches Poll. Both polls were released today (December 27). The Friars, who entered the polls last week (No. 22/23), moved up one spot in the Associated Press Poll and two spots in the Coaches Poll. The Friars were idle last week. The team’s only scheduled game versus Georgetown on December 22 was postponed due to Covid within the Georgetown program.
The Friars (11-1, 1-0) are off to their best start to a season since 2015-16 when they began the season with a 14-1 mark. Providence has posted Quad 1 wins at Wisconsin, versus Northwestern, at home versus Texas Tech and at UConn. The Friars have a NCAA NET ranking of 31 and are the only team in the nation with four Quad 1 victories (4-0).
In their most recent game, the Friars earned a 57-53 win at then No. 20/22 Connecticut on December 18 in the squad’s BIG EAST opener.
The Friars will return to action on Wednesday, December 29 in the team’s BIG EAST home opener versus No. 15/13 Seton Hall at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center at 7:00 p.m. on FS1.
