Providence police announce arrests of two suspects in café shooting

Suspects

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Providence Police Department announced the arrests of two suspects on Tuesday in connection to the shooting at Roque’s Café in September.

Major David Lapatin said that 34-year-old Juan Rivera and 36-year-old Julio Castro, both of Providence, have been arrested.

Lapatin said that the two men knew the victim and planned the shooting.

Investigators from North Carolina have come to Rhode Island as they investigate the homicide of Josue Calderon, according to Lapatin.

The investigators are interested in learning more about Rivera and Castro, but Lapatin would not call them suspects when asked.
