Providence police search North Providence storage facility in connection to bank heist

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police on Friday searched a storage facility in North Providence in connection to the bank heist on Federal Hill last week.

North Providence Chief Alfredo Ruggiero said Providence police conducted a search warrant at the Public Storage on Mineral Spring Avenue.

Providence Cmdr. Kevin Lanni said no arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

On June 29, Lanni said a “sophisticated planned” bank robbery happened at Santander Bank on Atwells Avenue.

He the bank was broken into, and the vault was “breached.”

Lanni said that officers initially arrived in a “tactical response” because of the nature of the call.
