Rhode Island Convention Center Authority inks deal with new rights owner

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Convention Center Authority finalized a deal with the new owner of the naming rights of the former “Dunkin’ Donuts Center” Thursday.
Daniel McConaghy, the authority’s director, told ABC 6 News that the deal was finalized during the latest executive session.
The authority isn’t saying who the sponsor is just yet. McConaghy said that the vendor still needs to sign off on the official agreement.
He added that the official announcement should come sometime after Labor Day.
Wednesday, Dunkin’ publicly acknowledged they were not renewing their deal for the naming rights of the facility. That same day, crews were seen removing signage from the center.
All indications are that the naming rights will go to the Lincoln-based company Amica Mutual Insurance.
Earlier this month, an Amica spokesman said they were in discussions with the authority for the naming rights. It was also learned that Amica filed for a trademark for the “Amica Mutual Pavilion” or AMP for short.
