Rhode Island Football Club celebrate topping off ceremony at new stadium
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Fortuitous Partners and The Rhode Island Football Club celebrated a “topping off” ceremony today at the Stadium at Tidewater Landing.
The Stadium at Tidewater Landing will be the home-base for the Rhode Island Football Club.
The ceremony included the final piece of structural steel being raised at the stadium.
Individuals who were invited to the ceremony got to sign the steel beam before it was raised.
Plans for construction of the stadium were announced back in 2019.
The construction of the stadium was seen to be highly controversial due to cost, as it was set to be the “most expensive” minor league soccer stadium in the country.
Construction had slowed back in the summer of 2023 due to questions of funding sources, as costs with inflation were set to be over $130 million.
Rhode Island Football Club players will be joined by Governor Dan McKee and Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien at 10 am.
The stadium is set to open in 2025.
