Rhode Island legislators to vote on plastic bag ban bill
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island legislators will vote on a bill that would ban single-use plastic bags during a meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The House will vote on the Plastic Waste Reduction Act, which would aim to replace single-use bags with reusable ones.
It would also put fines into place for those who continue to use single-use bags. Those fines would start at $100.
Sponsors of the bill want it to be in place by Jan. of 2024.
