Rhode Island State Police trooper’s cruiser hit by another while helping disabled car on I-95 in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police said Tuesday that a trooper was helping a disabled car last week in Providence when another trooper crashed into their cruiser.

The crash happened at just after 10 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 95 south.

Police said while a trooper was blocking the high speed lane with his cruiser, a second cruiser arrived at the scene, hitting the back of the cruiser and one of the barriers.

The crash sent the stationary cruiser into the disabled car, causing minor damage, said police.

Both troopers were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with complaints to pain. They were later released.

No further information was immediately released.
