Six arrested at high school basketball game in Central Falls

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) – Six people were arrested at a high school basketball game in Central Falls on Tuesday night.
Rhode Island State Police said officers responded to Central Falls High School at 7:27 p.m. on Tuesday after a fight took place in the stands.
Major Christopher Reed said four people were arrested inside the gym at a game between Central Falls and West Warwick, after which the school closed the facility to outside spectators.
Small groups outside the gym were upset that they could not see the game, resulting in another fight, according to Reed.
Police attempting to deescalate the situation arrested two juveniles who refused to disperse.
Reed said a total of four juveniles were taken into custody, with three released to their parents and one transported to the training school.
Pawtucket police also took custody one adult who had a warrant, per authorities.
Reed said mutual aid was called from surrounding communities due to the size of the crowds.
Officials said several State Police Troopers were called in for backup but were ultimately not needed.
