Suspect arrested in North Providence shooting

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The suspect in Thursday night’s shooting in North Providence was arrested on Friday, authorities say.
According to North Providence police Michael Monteiro, 52, was arrested without incident. Monteiro shot his victim, James Coccia, 48, in an apartment on Winona St. Thursday night. Coccia is in stable condition, but would not tell authorities who shot him.
Authorities say Monteiro and Coccia are known to each other and the shooting was an isolated incident.
Monteiro is charged with felony assault or battery, firing in a compact area, and simple assault or battery.
