Suspended Tiverton officer found guilty on 2 of 3 charges in court Wednesday
NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — Suspended Tiverton police officer Jacob Rapoza was found guilty of two counts related to his time as a School Resource Officer for the Tiverton School District.
The judge determined Rapoza was guilty for the inappropriate use of a taser in a school setting, a disorderly conduct charge.
He was not found guilty of a simple assault charge, however.
Rapoza was suspended with pay after the charges were filed.
He was then suspended without pay after additional, unrelated child abuse charges were filed in Warren in August 2023, a case which is currently being heard in superior court.
Rapoza did not face any jail time related to the convictions.
He instead has to complete 10 community service hours and needs to pay court costs.
