The World Ocean School to set sail later this month

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A non-profit in Massachusetts is setting sail by getting students in Southern New England excited about sailing and S.T.E.M. The immersive, hands-on experience starts in the Boston Harbor and helps students become mini ocean scientists while also learning how to sail. While on board, students are taught science, technology, engineering and math, while also developing invaluable life skills.

Since its inception in 2002, World Ocean School has helped more than 23,000 students enroll in the program.

The historic tall ships not only serve as a floating classroom, but also can be used for private entities, team building and other events. The money raised through those initiatives helps fund the non-profit and support its mission to allow every child, regardless of ability to pay, a chance to be a part of the World Ocean School.

To read more about what the initiative has accomplished in Southern New England and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and additional details on The World Ocean School program and opportunities for the public to set sail on August 25th, September 6th and September 8th, visit their website here.
