Tribute to Tammy: Flash mob for former Woonsocket teacher entering hospice care

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Hundreds of people took part in a flash mob for a former Woonsocket teacher who’s been battling cancer on and off for the last 20 years.
“I love you guys,” Tammy Lamberto-Roy said to the crowd.
Hundreds of people marched to Tammy’s home Wednesday evening, to show their support for a woman they love so very much.
“This is just love, this is absolute love, and appreciation for a fabulous friend,” said Jennifer Maiello, a life-long friend of Tammy’s.
Tammy has been battling cancer for 20 years on and off; she was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer which spread to her liver.
“She has beaten so many of the odds. Tammy didn’t give up, she was a fighter and she fought and is still fighting until the very end,” said Maiello.
Tammy recently decided to end her treatment and enter hospice care, so Maiello organized one last flash mob to Tammy’s favorite song “Dancing Queen.”
A flash mob previously performed for Tammy back in 2013.
David Lamberto was speechless while seeing the sea of pink in support of his sister.
“She loves people; people love her. The community support is just unreal,” said Lamberto.
If you ask anyone about Tammy, chances are they’ll all say the same thing.
“You can see all the lives that Tammy has touched, no matter what Tammy is going through she’s always smiling,” said friend Nicole Brien.
“She’s just wonderful and she’s touched so many lives in the community,” said another friend, Tiffany Goulet.
Tammy has fought cancer tirelessly and bravely before it recently took a turn for the worst.
“It’s been tough. She’s been fighting this for, originally when she was 28 she got breast cancer then the last 11 years with liver cancer, she’s a very positive person, fights everyday we just thought she’d outlive us all, you know,” said Lamberto.
Many people describe Tammy as a dancing queen herself and the look on her face said it all as she watched hundreds of people perform one last show for her.
“We love you Tammy!” the crowd cheered.
