Two PC Runners Earn NCAA Championship Berths

It was announced today (March 7) that Providence College senior Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.) was selected to participate in the 2020 NCAA Cross Country Championship on Monday, March 15 at the Oklahoma State University Cross Country Course located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The women’s race will begin at 12:50 p.m. ET. Coffin was one of 38 individuals who were selected to participate in the championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. The NCAA Cross Country Championship takes places each year in November but due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the Championship was postponed until March of 2021.

Coffin qualified for the NCAA Championship by finishing fourth overall at the BIG EAST Championship on March 5 in Cary, N.C. Coffin ran the WakeMed Course in a time of 20:44.2. She was the top finisher for the Friars, who placed third (61 points) of 11 teams. For her efforts, Coffin earned her second cross country All-BIG EAST honor. Coffin will be making her second appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championship.
