UPDATE: Former Cranston city councilor pleads not guilty in court

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Former Cranston city councilor Matthew Reilly pleaded not guilty in court on Wednesday.

Reilly was arraigned on numerous sex charges, including child molestation, enticement of a minor child, and one count of assault.

In late June, The Providence County Grand Jury indicted Reilly on upgraded charges.

Reilly was a legal guardian of a 12-year-old girl who originally filed a complaint against him last year. 

Reilly also faced drug possession charges when he was found semi-conscious in a car

He will remain on home confinement until his next court date.
